Deputy Speaker of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly and MLA of the 28th Likabali Assembly Constituency, Hon’ble Nyigyor, has expressed his appreciation to the State Government for sanctioning ₹35 crore towards crucial road and drainage infrastructure in Likabali, a prominent foothill town known for the revered Malinithan Temple.
In a statement to India Today, Deputy Speaker Nyigyor highlighted that Likabali often faces severe waterlogging issues, particularly in its colony roads. To address this, ₹12 crore has been allocated for the construction of cement concrete drainage systems, with ongoing work reported to be progressing smoothly and without compromising on quality.
Additionally, to tackle the dilapidated condition of internal roads exacerbated by water stagnation, another ₹23 crore has been sanctioned. “I commend the contractors and the executing department for their efforts and urge them to maintain the quality and standards as specified in the DPR (Detailed Project Report),” Nyigyor said.
The Deputy Speaker further clarified that the Sibi road, which often gets affected during floods, falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India. He informed that legislators from the entire Siang region are planning to approach Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to expedite necessary interventions for that stretch.
Meanwhile, work on the Gensi Road is proceeding in full swing. "If all goes according to plan and weather conditions remain favorable, we expect the project to be completed by March next year," Nyigyor added.
