Arunachal Governor urges institutions to “make better citizens” while inaugurating 6th convocation at Arunodaya University

Arunodaya University of Arunachal Pradesh held its sixth convocation ceremony on Wednesday, April 22 at its newly developed campus complex in Jollang, marking a key milestone in the institution’s expansion.
The event was inaugurated by K. T. Parnaik, who attended as the Visitor. Mohan V. Aware was present as the chief guest. The ceremony was also attended by Vice-Chancellor Prof. N. V. Sangvikar and Registrar Dr. Pramod Shinde, along with other senior officials.
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by felicitation of guests. The Governor conferred degrees and distributed scholastic medals to graduating students.
A commemorative stone was unveiled during the event to mark the inauguration of new infrastructure planned across the university’s 65-acre campus, which will include 24 classrooms and additional academic facilities.
A total of 144 students were awarded degrees across disciplines. Among them, 11 students were recognised as toppers, including a gold medal awarded to Depti Basumatri of MA Geography. University officials noted that seven of the toppers were female students.
The convocation was attended by Chairman Dr. Santosh K. Mishra, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. P. K. Choudhry, Deputy Registrar Kumod Kumar Jha, Dean (Academic) Sohan Kumar Jha, and other faculty members and administrative officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Registrar Kumod Kumar Jha said the convocation held added significance as it coincided with the inauguration of the new campus. He stated that the expanded infrastructure would support the introduction of new courses and hostel facilities. He also highlighted that the university provides scholarships to economically disadvantaged but meritorious students.
Addressing attendees, Governor K. T. Parnaik said educational institutions have a responsibility to nurture disciplined and motivated individuals and emphasised the role of higher education in shaping responsible citizens.
