Arunachal Pradesh witnessed its first-ever joint mega celebration of International Labour Day 2025, as workers from various sectors came together under a common banner to mark the occasion with great enthusiasm.
The event, organized jointly by the All Arunachal Pradesh Workers Union (AAPWU) and the All Arunachal Pradesh Labour Union (AAPLU) in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB), marked a significant milestone in acknowledging the state’s workforce and their invaluable contributions to its growth and development.
Held amidst vibrant festivities, the programme was graced by Agri-Horticulture Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu, who attended as Chief Guest. In his address, Wangsu lauded the role of workers in nation-building and emphasized the government's commitment to safeguarding their rights and improving their welfare.
Special Guest Kego Jilen, APCS, Commissioner of the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC), also shared words of appreciation, highlighting various welfare initiatives aimed at uplifting the labour community.
One of the key highlights of the event was the distribution of free welfare kits to all registered workers under the APB&OCWWB. The kits, which include essential protective gear and daily utility items, were handed out as a gesture of support and recognition of the workers' dedication, especially those engaged in building and construction sectors across the state.
This unified celebration not only reinforced worker solidarity but also signaled a collaborative approach between labour unions and the state government towards addressing the challenges faced by the workforce, including workplace safety, fair wages, and welfare benefits.
With a festive spirit marked by cultural performances and solidarity pledges, the event concluded with renewed calls for continued efforts to enhance the well-being and dignity of workers across Arunachal Pradesh.
