Commuters have been urged to follow designated diversion routes as the Lekhi/Borum–Naharlagun Railway Station road stretch remains closed for ongoing cement concrete and road-widening work.
The closed stretch runs from the Railway Bridge at Lekhi/Borum to the tri-junction near Borum Railway Station in Papum Pare district.
Workers of Kenge Construction, which is executing the road improvement work, have appealed to commuters to cooperate with the traffic restrictions to ensure the project is completed at the earliest.
The Assistant Commissioner of Itanagar Capital Complex has extended the complete closure of the stretch for another month to facilitate uninterrupted construction.
According to an order issued on September 30, the closure will remain in force from September 30 to October 30, 2026.
The ongoing work involves improvement and widening of the road from Borum tri-junction to the Railway Bridge near Arunodaya University, Naharlagun.
Traffic diversions
Vehicles travelling from the Railway Station towards Lekhi/Nirjuli will have to take the route via the Galo Heritage Gate near the railway tri-junction, Galo Heritage Ground and Railway Bridge.
Similarly, vehicles travelling from Lekhi towards the Railway Station/Borum will be diverted through the Railway Bridge tri-junction, Concrete Mixer Plant, Borum Community Hall and Stadium Road.
The Assistant Commissioner has appealed to commuters to use the designated alternative routes during the closure period to ensure public safety and facilitate smooth execution of the roadwork.
Kenge Construction has also urged commuters to strictly follow the No Entry restriction, saying public cooperation is essential for completing the project without further delay.
