Arunachal Pradesh on July 17 marked a decade of Chief Minister Pema Khandu's leadership with the launch of commemorative postage stamps showcasing the state's rich cultural heritage, traditions and unique identity.
Khandu, who first assumed office on July 17, 2016, has completed 10 years as the state's chief minister. The BJP-led government celebrated the milestone by highlighting the state's developmental journey over the past decade.
Speaking to India Today, Khandu expressed gratitude to the people of Arunachal Pradesh for their continued trust and support, saying the decade-long journey reflected the state's transformation and progress.
The chief minister also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their consistent support to the strategically important Himalayan border state.
Referring to the recent monsoon-triggered disasters in Arunachal Pradesh, Khandu appreciated the Centre's prompt response, noting that two Union ministers and central assessment teams had visited the state to evaluate the damage. He said the Centre had extended assistance for relief and rehabilitation efforts, adding that he would soon travel to New Delhi to discuss further support with the Union government.
Speaking on the fake news aired by several local news channels of resignation of Arunachal CM, to this he said, "I would say all these are fake news and we must not encourage this kind of news also, as the government is running good under the BJP regime and we are united together."
Women and Child Development, Science and Technology, and Art and Culture Minister Dasanglu Pul lauded the achievements of the Khandu government over the last 10 years. She credited the administration for accelerating development across sectors and appealed to the people to continue supporting the government in its efforts to further strengthen infrastructure, welfare initiatives and economic growth in Arunachal Pradesh.
The commemorative postage stamps, unveiled as part of the celebrations, highlight Arunachal Pradesh's diverse culture, heritage and identity, symbolising the state's journey over the past decade under Khandu's leadership.
