Arunachal Pradesh’s capital witnessed an unprecedented gathering today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a massive crowd at Indira Gandhi Park, drawing denizens from across the state in what is being described as one of the largest turnouts in Northeast India.
In his address, the Prime Minister expressed his “extreme love” for the Northeast, adding that Arunachal Pradesh, as the land of the rising sun, holds a “special place” in his heart. His words were met with gratitude from ministers, BJP leaders, and citizens of Arunachal, many of whom credited the Modi government for consistently announcing development packages that had been neglected under previous regimes.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu and state ministers lauded Modi’s vision, emphasising that the foundation stones laid for the Tato-I and Heo hydropower projects in Shi Yomi district, along with other schemes worth nearly ₹5,000 crore, will transform the state’s energy and infrastructure landscape.
In Tawang, the Prime Minister inaugurated a state-of-the-art convention centre built under the PM-DevINE scheme at a cost of ₹145.37 crore, with a capacity to host 1,500 people. He also rolled out a series of projects worth over ₹1,290 crore to strengthen connectivity, healthcare services, and fire safety infrastructure.
