The three-day Pangsau Pass International Festival began today near the India-Myanmar border with a colorful opening ceremony led by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu. The festival aims to promote cultural exchange and tourism, drawing participants from both India and Myanmar.
On the first day, traditional songs, dances, and performances by tribes from the Tirap, Changlang, Longding, and Namsai districts added vibrancy to the event. Communities from Myanmar also actively participated, showcasing their rich cultural heritage. The striking traditional attire of the tribes captivated domestic and international tourists alike.
The Chief Minister toured the traditional houses exhibited by the tribes and appreciated their cultural displays. He was joined by several dignitaries, including MLA and Chief Minister's advisor Kamlong Mossang, Minister Gabriel D Wangsu, and other prominent personalities.
Led by the local MLA, the festival promises to boost tourism in the Northeast while fostering cross-border cultural ties. As part of the event, visitors can experience the traditions, crafts, and cuisines of the participating tribes.
This year's edition highlights the significance of cultural exchange in strengthening bonds across borders and presents a unique opportunity to showcase the Northeast as a vibrant tourism destination.
