The Kargu Kardi Welfare Society (KKWS) and the Lodu Ao Welfare Society (LAWS) of Arunachal Pradesh accorded a warm welcome to Nyakar Raksap, a social activist from Arunachal Pradesh who was awarded the "Indian Icon Award 2024" by the Global Excellence Forum at an event in New Delhi.
Raksap was awarded for his significant contributions in the field of socio-cultural development and the cooperative movement in Arunachal Pradesh. Raksap is also the president of the Arunachal Pradesh Consumers' Cooperative Federation.
Upon his return, Raksap was warmly welcomed at the airport by the welfare Societies, acknowledging their support by expressing that society is his priority and life’s work.
Speaking to India Today NE, Raksap said, "I thank all the seniors, youths, the Galo Youth Organization, and everyone for their support. Since childhood, I have lived according to my principles, and after graduation, I joined politics as a Gram Panchayat member, Anchal Samiti member, and Zilla Parishad member."
He further informed, "I later worked for society as a social activist, initially raising awareness among farmers. I served as General Secretary of the Siang Farmers Federation and held other portfolios. In 2015, I received an invitation from the Asian Peace Foundation, but I was unaware of the importance of reaching far-flung places to gain recognition and ignored the invitation. In 2023, I received leadership awards, and on May 19, 2024, I was honored with the Icon Award for Global Inspiration in Dwarka, Delhi. Now, for the third time, on the 16th, I received this Icon Award from the Global Excellence Forum."
He has a long history of social activism, starting from his involvement in local politics as a Gram Panchayat member and later moving on to work for the betterment of farmers.
He currently serves as the state president of the Nationalist Youth Farmers Organization.
Raksap has previously received leadership awards, and this marks his third major recognition, following an earlier Global Inspiration award in May 2024. He was honored in a ceremony that featured personalities like Member of Parliament Ravinder Narayana Mehra, Kerala's DGP Ashok, and Dr. Ravi Jitendrakumar, the President of the Global Excellence Forum.
Twelve other individuals from Arunachal Pradesh also received awards in various fields during this event.
