Arunachal Pradesh's Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) has launched an Indoor Navigation App, the first of its kind in Northeast India. The app was officially unveiled today by Health Minister Biyuram Wahge, along with another software tool, Scan & Feedback.
This Navigation Scan App, conceptualized by Health Minister Wahge, aims to provide a digital wayfinding solution for patients, visitors, and hospital staff within the vast TRIHMS complex. By simply scanning the software, users can easily navigate the multi-building medical institution in Naharlagun.
Speaking about the initiative, Minister Wahge highlighted that the service is particularly beneficial for patients with vision impairments or disabilities, allowing them to move through the hospital with greater ease and precision using their smartphones.
TRIHMS Director Dr Moji Jini lauded the initiative, stating that it was a long-awaited necessity. He emphasized that the app would enhance accessibility, improve patient experience, increase staff efficiency, and ultimately reduce operational burdens on the hospital system.
Dr Gomi Basar, who heads the IT department at TRIHMS, acknowledged the minister’s vision in bringing this app to life. Comparing it to Google Maps, he explained that the application provides real-time navigation, guiding users to various departments, including the blood bank and other essential facilities.
The app was developed by Premjit Kumar, an IIT Mumbai graduate, who, in an exclusive conversation with India Today, elaborated on its features. He stated that the primary goal is to streamline hospital navigation and ensure seamless movement for patients, visitors, and healthcare personnel.
