Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung on Tuesday, December 9 appealed to youth-based organisations to withdraw the proposed bandh, emphasising that shutdowns are neither constructive nor a viable solution to address public grievances.
The appeal comes amid calls for a bandh by the IFYA, APIYO, and ANYO, which the Minister said would only disrupt essential services and inflict hardship on the common people.
Speaking to the media, Natung noted that while he had been scheduled to meet representatives of the groups on December 5, logistical challenges arising from ongoing election campaigns prevented him from attending.
He, however, assured that the government remains open to dialogue and is committed to addressing concerns through democratic and lawful channels.
“We urge all organisations to come forward for peaceful discussions. Bandh is not the answer,” Natung asserted.
The Home Minister further added that the government is closely monitoring the prevailing situation and will take firm action against illegal immigrants as per legal provisions. “We will act strictly in accordance with the rules and deport illegal immigrants wherever required,” he said.
Natung reiterated that constructive engagement, not confrontation, is the way forward for maintaining peace and stability in the state.
