BJP Arunachal Pradesh spokesperson Tobom Dai has expressed strong support for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls during a briefing held in Bomdila, the headquarters of West Kameng district.
Addressing the ongoing political debate surrounding the exercise, Dai described the SIR as a legal, constitutional and routine process necessary to ensure the accuracy of electoral rolls.
He backed the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) clarifications, stating that decisions related to the revision were taken independently by the commission in accordance with official guidelines.
Dai also criticised the opposition, particularly Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, over the ‘Vote Chori’ campaign. He dismissed allegations questioning the ECI’s integrity as baseless, claiming they could undermine democratic institutions without verified evidence.
The BJP spokesperson urged political parties and the public to refer to official records and discuss the revision process based on verified facts rather than unverified claims.
