Dubai’s acclaimed theatrical production Thousand Nights & One Play captivated audiences at the ongoing Arunachal Rang Mahotsav, the International Theatre Festival that has drawn participants from ten countries.
The play, directed by Rasika Agashe, brought the enchanting world of One Thousand and One Nights to life in a 1 hour 30-minute spectacle blending folklore, mysticism and immersive storytelling.
At the centre of the narrative is the enigmatic Fakir, portrayed by Dee Gee, whose mystical presence and spellbinding narration guide the audience through a universe where reality and illusion merge seamlessly. The Fakir’s role becomes crucial in unveiling the destiny of Sheherazade, the legendary storyteller of the original Arabian tales, adding depth and emotional resonance to the production.
Festival Director Riken Ngomle, speaking to India Today, expressed delight at the overwhelming public response to the festival. He noted that despite ongoing municipal and panchayat elections, audiences have been turning up in impressive numbers each day to witness the diverse theatrical performances scheduled till December 6 since the festival’s opening on November 23.
The participation of global theatre groups and powerful productions like Thousand Nights & One Play has further cemented Arunachal Rang Mahotsav’s reputation as a vibrant international platform celebrating artistic excellence.
