Amjad Tak, Commissioner of Education and Resident Commissioner of Arunachal Bhawan Delhi shared insights from a recent Chintan Shivir and Education Conclave in an exclusive interview with India Today NE. The events highlighted significant issues within the state's education sector.
Tak announced plans to regularise 500 Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers from the 2007 and 2008 batches, emphasising that the process would be based on seniority and conducted fairly. He advised teachers against lobbying for regularisation.
The commissioner addressed challenges in uniform distribution, revealing that only about 20% of students receive funds through the PMFS due to inactive bank accounts. A targeted approach involving district administration will be implemented to resolve these issues.
Tak promised action against schools failing to provide daily meals under the PM Poshan Yojana (formerly the Mid-Day Meal scheme). He also announced plans for an inventory management system to monitor electronic gadgets and infrastructure in schools.
The Chintan Shivir exposed critical shortcomings, including teacher shortages, inadequate infrastructure, and insufficient teacher training. Tak mentioned that the education minister is touring the state to assess the ground reality of elementary and school education.
Addressing recent molestation cases in schools, Tak said Saturday classes have been introduced for younger children to teach them about good and bad touch.
The commissioner also highlighted improvements at Arunachal Bhawan, including better room allocation for patients and students. He announced plans for a new Arunachal Sadan and a dedicated facility for students and patients in Dhirpur, Delhi, near a multi-speciality hospital.
Tak concluded by assuring efforts to provide water supply in new schools and coordinating with the Public Health Engineering Department for regular water supply across all government schools in the state.
