The foundation stone for the Pemakoe Mindrolling Gonpa was laid on Tuesday, February 24, by His Holiness 9th Minling Khenchen Rinpoche at Tuting, near the Indo-China border in Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Rinpoche, accompanied by his entourage, arrived from the renowned Mindroling Monastery in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, to preside over the historic ceremony.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who were scheduled to attend the event, could not reach the venue as their helicopter was unable to take off from Pasighat due to inclement weather.
Addressing the gathering, the Rinpoche described the new Gonpa as a dream project and said it would remain open to people of all religions and faiths. He urged devotees to offer prayers with pure minds and positive thoughts.
He also expressed gratitude to the Arunachal Pradesh government and local MLA Alo Libang for their wholehearted support in the construction of the Gonpa.
Among those present at the daylong religious ceremony were Arunachal Pradesh Food Commission Chairman Tarh Tarak, former ZPM Pema Lapchi, senior BJP leader Nima Sangey, and ADC Tuting Pandav Perme.
