Landslide blocks Seppa–Itanagar road in Arunachal, vehicle buried under debris

A massive landslide triggered by heavy rainfall blocked the Seppa–Itanagar road in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday, August 4, with a vehicle reportedly buried under mud, rocks and debris at Zero Block Point near Seppa.
 

According to initial reports, the landslide occurred after a large portion of the hillside collapsed onto the roadway, cutting off vehicular movement along the crucial route connecting Seppa in East Kameng district with the state capital, Itanagar.
 

The vehicle caught in the landslide is believed to have been completely buried under the debris. However, there is no official confirmation yet on the number of occupants, casualties or injuries.
 

Authorities are expected to launch rescue and road clearance operations to assess the situation and restore connectivity at the earliest. Officials are also likely to inspect the affected stretch for any further risk of landslides before allowing traffic to resume.
 

In the meantime, motorists have been advised to avoid the Seppa–Itanagar road and follow official advisories until the route is declared safe for travel.
 

Arunachal Pradesh has been witnessing continuous rainfall over the past few days, triggering landslides and disrupting road connectivity in several parts of the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also forecast heavy rainfall in parts of Arunachal, with authorities urging residents to remain cautious and avoid travel in landslide-prone areas.
