Rajya Sabha MP from Arunachal Pradesh, Tai Tagak, has dismissed reports of fresh Chinese incursions in the Taksing sector of Upper Subansiri district, describing viral social media posts alleging new military camps and territorial encroachment as misleading and based on old, edited photographs and videos.
Addressing the issue, Tagak appealed to the public not to rely on unverified information circulating on social media regarding alleged Chinese military activities or encroachment in the border region. He urged people to refrain from spreading misinformation and to await official verification before drawing conclusions.
The parliamentarian stated that the India-China boundary dispute is marked by a long-standing difference in perception over the alignment of the border, particularly in areas affected by differing interpretations of the geographical situation before and after the 1962 India-China conflict. He said that such perception differences should not be misconstrued as evidence of fresh territorial intrusion.
Tagak announced that a comprehensive ground survey and verification of the border areas would be undertaken after the end of the monsoon season to assess the situation on the ground. He said the verification exercise would help establish factual details regarding the border and address concerns raised through various reports.
Reaffirming the government's commitment to safeguarding the country's territorial integrity, the Rajya Sabha MP said that not a single inch of Indian territory would be allowed to be encroached upon. He asserted that the government was prepared to take all necessary measures in the event of any confirmed intrusion by China.
Tai Tagak was elected unopposed to Arunachal Pradesh's lone Rajya Sabha seat in June 2026 and has assumed office as the state's representative in the Upper House of Parliament.
