The Upper Subansiri District Law Students’ Union (USDLSU) has raised serious allegations of large-scale financial irregularities amounting to nearly Rs 200 crore in land compensation payments under Packages 4 and 5 of the Arunachal Frontier Highway project.
In a strong statement, the Union asserted that mismanagement of such a substantial public fund not only undermines transparency but also jeopardizes the rights of genuine landowners whose interests the project is meant to safeguard. They warned that the continued lack of accountability could erode public confidence in government-led development initiatives.
Calling for an impartial and thorough investigation, USDLSU demanded that all concerned officials and departments be held answerable for the discrepancies. The Union urged the state government to put in place strict checks to ensure corruption-free compensation processes so that the strategically important highway project progresses without hindrance and contributes to the region’s socio-economic growth.
The mega infrastructure project, intended to boost border connectivity and security, has already faced delays and public concerns. Further investigation into the alleged scam is awaited.
