Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited Keyi Panyor district in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday, July 1 to inspect and assess the extensive damage caused by recent flash floods and landslides triggered by a cloudburst.
The visit was accompanied by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu as part of a coordinated review of the disaster-affected areas.
The delegation conducted both aerial and ground surveys to evaluate the scale of destruction. The team visited severely impacted locations, including the NEEPCO colony at Possa and relief camps established for affected residents.
The natural disaster, which struck on June 23 following a cloudburst, caused widespread damage to residential structures, agricultural land and public infrastructure. Connectivity along National Highway-13 was disrupted, while several residential quarters were destroyed.
During the visit, Minister Chouhan interacted with displaced families and reviewed ongoing relief measures. He assured affected residents of full support from the Central Government for relief, rehabilitation and restoration efforts.
Officials stated that a comprehensive assessment of losses is underway to facilitate structured recovery measures, with coordinated assistance to be provided jointly by the Centre and the Arunachal Pradesh Government.
