AASU Member lynched to death in Jorhat

• Guwahati: A member of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) was allegedly lynched in Jorhat district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as 28-year-old Animesh Bhuyan who was attacked by a mob on suspicion that they were responsible for an accident that took place on the road. Bhuyan was attacked by a mob who the locals claim were drug addicts. 

The police following the incident have arrested six persons and further investigation is on. A video is also being circulated which has the entire situation recorded. A local journalist was also injured in the mob attack.

Sankor Jyoti Baruah, AASU General Secretary speaking about the incident said, "At a time when the Abhi-Neel lynching case is yet to end, another person lynched in the middle of the road. We demand strict actions against all those informed as soon as possible."
