Arunachal: Mentally disturbed man rescued, shifted to TRIHMS in timely police intervention

Police personnel from Papu Hills Police Station, in coordination with the Railway Police, safely assisted a person suffering from mental illness who was found in a disturbed condition at Naharlagun Railway Station on Sunday, January 25 evening, averting potential risk to both the individual and the public.

Police personnel from Papu Hills Police Station, in coordination with the Railway Police, safely assisted a person suffering from mental illness who was found in a disturbed condition at Naharlagun Railway Station on Sunday, January 25 evening, averting potential risk to both the individual and the public.

 

The incident occurred around 7 pm when the individual, identified as Chandan Deka, was noticed behaving erratically at the busy railway station, triggering panic among passengers. Recognising the sensitivity of the situation, the police acted promptly on humanitarian grounds to de-escalate the situation and ensure his safety.

 

The individual was safely shifted to the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) for medical evaluation and necessary care. During the course of enquiry, the police successfully contacted his brother, Dhiraj Deka, who was residing in Bengaluru, and informed him of the situation.


Upon his arrival and after completing due verification procedures, Chandan Deka was formally handed over to his brother in stable and sound health.
