Assam: Absconding 'oil thief' nabbed in Chirang

CHIRANG: Chirang police on Thursday arrested one person suspected of pilfering oil from Rongjuli area of Assam's Goalpara district.

 

The accused has been identified as Sultan Ali Ahmed (35), a resident of Boikhungaon under Dhaligaon police station, Chirang district.

“Two cases were pending against Sultan, and he was absconding for a long time. Thus, based on some specific information a team of Chirang police has arrested Sultan Ali Ahmed under section 23 Petroleum Act in the related case," an official said.

 

Sultan Ali Ahmed is suspected to be involved in the organised racket of oil theft in and around Chirang district, police said.
