Assam Government sets up Directory for Differently-abled

Guwahati, December 23, 2018:
The government of Assam has taken an initiative to set up a separate directorate for ‘divyangs’ (differently-abled people).
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has assured on Friday that the government shall also address their grievances and stated that the BJP-led state government is committed to the welfare of divyangs. Furthermore, the government is also planning to pay a monthly stipend of Rs. 1000 to divyangs and promised more schemes.
As part of government directive, steps are also being taken to ensure recruitment of Divyangs into government service. Various dignitaries were present at the event.
