30 July 2018:
The complete draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) may have been out, but dirty politics played out over the issue is far from over.
Not to be left out from the politics surrounding the update of NRC in Assam, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday criticised the non-inclusion of approximately 40 lakh individuals from the complete NRC draft by terming it a case of “political isolation”.
Soon after the complete NRC draft was published in Assam in the morning, she declared before reporters in Kolkata: “It can be seen as a clear attack to the Bengalis and I stand by them (those left out of the draft).”
She added: “If I get the opportunity, I will meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in this regard.”
