Assam: Man found dead with stab injuries inside Nagaon tea garden

The body of a man bearing apparent stab injuries was recovered from inside the Nonoi Tea Garden under the jurisdiction of the Jalna Police Outpost in Assam’s Nagaon district on August 1, police said.

The deceased was identified as Zakir Hussain, a resident of Telia Chapori Toop in Rupahihat.

According to family members, Zakir had left home on July 31 after informing them that he was going to Chapanala to collect stones for house construction. However, he did not return home.

His body was later recovered under mysterious circumstances from the tea garden by Jalna Police. Preliminary investigation indicated visible injury marks on the body, raising suspicion that he may have been attacked and killed.

Police sent the body to Nagaon Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

An investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding Zakir’s death and identify those involved. Police are also trying to establish the motive behind the suspected killing.

Meanwhile, an atmosphere of grief has gripped Zakir Hussain’s residence in Telia Chapori Toop, where family members are awaiting answers.
