The state has witnessed people protesting all across to register their anguish against the citizenship amendment bill 2016. A rally protesting the bill was organized by Assam Andolan Sangrami Manch. The rally commencnced from Ganesh Udyan and was supposed to be made till Raj Bhawan. However the rally was put to a halt by the interference of the administration. The Protest was led by Prafulla Mahanta, a pivotal figure of Asom Gana Parishad. The protest was coordinated by several other organizations. The protestors chanted slogans against the bill to be scrapped.
