BONGAIGAON: A female constable of Bongaingaon police is facing stern consequences for making an offensive remark about a tribal lady.
In a video that is going viral on social media platforms, the lady constable can be heard telling the woman to go into prostitution.
According to Bongaigaon police, the incident took place in Bamungaon, Abhayapuri Thursday where the female constable made this remark during an excise raid.
Talking to InsideNE, Bongaigaon SP Swapnaneel Deka informed, "During an excise raid, one of our lady constable got into an argument with a tribal woman. In a heat of the moment, the female constable made an unparliamentary remark about a tribal woman."
The video has created an outrage on social media platforms where the netizens have been slamming the constable as well as Assam Police for behaving in such a manner.
Followed by the incident, the Bongaingaon police initiated an inquiry and the constable was closed to Police Reserve.
A warning has also been issued against her, further informed SP Deka.
