Assam police destroys 'illegal' saw mill in Barpeta district

Dispur: One illegal band saw mill at Baravita village in Barpeta district has been shut down and the machines seized after forest personnel conducted a raid here on Friday.

According to official reports, the illegal sawmill was operating under the Bahari Beat that falls under the Barpeta Road Range.

Forest personnel raided and seized the machines as soon as they detected the illegal saw mill. Some logs were also seized by the officials.

However, no arrests were made.
