Assam pugilist Shiva Thapa bags gold at Men’s National Boxing Championship

GUWAHATI: Assam pugilist Shiva Thapa has bagged a gold medal in the Men's National Boxing Championship today.

Shiva Thapa defeated Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) boxer Dalveer Singh Tomar by 5-0.

Thapa with his victory has qualified for AIBA Elite World Boxing Championship at Belgrade, Serbia scheduled between October 26th to November 6th.

Shiva Thapa's performance in the competition had been consistent and promising as he had defeated Uttar Pradesh’s Abhishek Yadav by 4-1 in the semi-finals as well.

A total of 13 finals, involving 26 boxers, are in progress at the Elite Men’s National Boxing Championships.
