A team of four people from Small Wish International Guwahati HQ drove to Baksa District to carry out a flood relief drive. The Team members Arif (CEO-SWI), Prince (COO-SWI), Arghadeep Barua, Anee Sharma were joined by Fajlul Haque to carry out the ground operations further. The team provided aid to over 600 people including children stranded in flood immersed villages.
Sheikh Prince Khalid, COO, Small Wish International said, “The visible havoc caused by the floods like loss of crops, shelter, cattle, resulted deaths etc has created a panic among the flood-affected victims making them directly vulnerable to the spread of the invisible Covid-19.”

Fajlul Haque, Resident Madoikota Village, Ground Operations Support informed,“It was last in 2004 when we experienced a such disasterous flood situation in our village and this year the flood situation is much severe than what we faced back then”

Excerpts from the SWI Ground Operations #2: In the 2nd SWI ground operation, in order to manage time efficiently some families were pre -notified by their ground operations support and were mobilized nearby in a safe spot where they could screen them and provided them aid.
Excerpts from the SWI Ground Operations #3: In the 3rd SWI ground operations, the whole team trekked through the flooded regions under exceptional circumstances. They reached to families including children who got displaced during floods and were seeking shelter in a local school.
Excerpts from the SWI Ground Operations #4: When the team reached the school in operation 4, they saw that the families sheltered there had no social distancing. And none of them took any precautionary measures against covid-19. There wasn’t much awareness in them about their vulnerability towards covid-19 infection. So the team while providing the aid took the time to explain the families about few must take precautionary measures against covid-19.
Excerpts from the SWI Ground Operations #5: In the end, the ground operations became difficult as they progressed. The team reached out to deep villages where it was very difficult for flood relief to reach to the families stranded by floods. During the first stretch of the trek the water was 4ft above ground, and very soon the team had to navigate through the flooded regions in a “Vhel” under exceptional circumstances.
