In a joint operation conducted by the Army and Police, two suspected
(KPLT) cadres have been apprehended on Friday from Birsingki area of Baithalangso.
The operation was carried out based on specific intelligence received regarding the presence of armed militants in the area. According to officials, there was also information that these armed cadres were carrying out extortion from the local populace businessmen and threatening the locals with the weapons in their possession.
The accused have been identified as Arak Tisso alias Sajen (27), and Shaan Kramsa (28), both hailing from Donkamukam in West Karbi Anglong. The team seized two .22mm pistols, two magazines, six live .22 RDS and four mobile phones.
The apprehended cadres have been handed over to Ullukuchi Police outpost for further investigation.
