According to reports, a youth had posted a statement on Facebook against a particular community on Thursday. After it went viral on the social media, an organisation called for a complete market shutdown. While one community supported the call of the organisation and kept their shops and business establishments closed, the shopkeepers belonging to another community refused to do so.

Later, a clash broke out between both communities in the market areas of Borhapjan where property worth lakhs of rupees was destroyed. A number of people were also injured.

The police immediately swung into action and restored normalcy by firing blank shots and tear gas shells.

When reports last came in, the situation was tense but under control.
