GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (Metro) district administration has declared the Don Bosco School, Panbazar premises here as containment zone for seven days after a teacher of the school was detected COVID-19 positive.
The school has been declared containment zone from today till February 27, a circular issued by Kamrup (Metro) deputy commissioner Biswajit Pegu said.
Entry of any unauthorized person into the school premises as been prohibited for the week.

The circular also stated that all the teachers of the school will have to undergo COVID-19 tests at an alternative place to be arranged by the school authorities on Monday. The district administration has also asked the guardians to get any student showing any COVID-19 symptom tested at their nearest testing facility.
During the period, the school premises will be sanitized as per The Assam COVID-19 Regulations 2020.

The annual examination of the school, which was scheduled to commence tomorrow, have also been deferred.
School sources said a teacher has tested positive and has been under home quarantine.
The school has an enrollment of over 2000 students. The schools were reopened in the city since January first week.
