MAJULI: Dadhi Barua has been appointed as the acting president of the Majuli district Congress committee.

On the other hand, Shri Dwipen Bora has been appointed as the acting president of Sonitpur, while Shri Swapan Das has been named as the acting president of Guwahati City.

The move has come after the resignation of the DCC Presidents of the three districts.

Following their resignations, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee today assigned the responsibility of acting President to the following Vice Presidents of Sonitpur, Guwahati City, and Majuli DCC.

The responsibility of running day-to-day organisational activities the districts is entrusted to the above-mentioned leaders until regular DCC Presidents are selected by the Congress President.  

This has come into force with immediate effect.

Congress President of Majuli district Rajib Lochan Pegu tendered his resignation from his position yesterday.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Jury Sharma Bordoloi has also left the party recently with 50 members of the Guwahati District Congress Committee.
