Dergaon PTC declared containment zone after several trainees tests COVID-19 positive

GOLAGHAT: The Golaghat district administration today declared the Assam Police Training Centre at Dergaon, as a containment zone for 14 days, after several trainees were found to be COVID-19 positive.

Over 50 police personnel, who were in the centre for training, contracted the virus during the last few days.

A trainee of the centre, Bogi Ram Bodo also succumbed to the disease on Wednesday.

Bodo, a trainee Assistant sub-inspector (UB) was admitted to the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) after he tested positive for COVID-19.

However, the other trainees, infected with coronavirus, are undergoing treatment at the training center itself.

Meanwhile, Assam’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 1,531, as the state witnessed 46 more deaths due to coronavirus infection, over the past 24 hours.

On the other hand, 4,936 fresh COVID-19 positive cases took the tally to 2,77,687, while the active caseload mounted to 31,829.
