Graft case: Ex-secretary of Kalakshetra Sabin Rajkhowa held

Sleuths of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (V&AC) on Thursday arrested Sabin Rajkhowa, former secretary of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, on charges of embezzlement of Rs 1.10 crore.

The embezzlement reportedly took place during the previous Congress government. The Kalakshetra had received funds from the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA) to organize Indigenous Folk Theatre Festival.

A case was filed under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against Rajkhowa by the V&AC in July 2017. Rajkhowa and the assistant accountant of Kalakshetra were booked under certain Sections of the IPC.
