Goddess Durga Bids Adieu to Her Devotees on 'Vijaya Dashami'

Guwahati, October 8, 2019:

The immersion of Goddess Durga has begun across the nation on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami, the final day of Durga Puja.

Speaking with Inside Northeast, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro), Biswajit Pegu said, “The immersion has already begun and all the arrangements have been made. The immersion will be done in seven ghats (ports) and smaller ghats in Sonapur. The basic ghats for immersion are Kasomari, Pandu and Sunsali. The other ghats are in Jyotikuchi, Saukuchi, Basistha."

The Deputy Commissioner also mentioned that this year, more than 490 idols will be immersed. “Last yin the thereabouts,” Biswajit Pegu added.

“The security arrangements have been done by the Commissioner of Police. There is nothing to worry about, just that the traffic has to look after,” he added.
