Guwahati, September 9, 2019:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today said that illegal immigrants should not only leave Assam but the entire country.

While addressing the 4th Conclave of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), Shah reiterated that India should be made free from illegal immigrants.

Shah further added that there will be no spill of illegal immigrants to other northeastern states.

Assam had recently published its final draft of NRC which was targeted at freeing the state of the influx of illegal migrants from Bangladesh.

Shah also assured that the Citizenship Amendment Bill would not change anything in the Northeastern States. He said that since Article 371 was a special provision given to the Northeast, regional laws will prevail.
