Guwahati (Assam), September 14, 2018:

The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) took out a protest rally against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in Guwahati on Friday. The rally started from Dighalipukhuri and ended at the office of Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner (DC) at Panbazar.

The protest was supported by Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti, Nari Mukti Sangram Samiti and Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad.

The protesters submitted a memorandum to the DC against the Sarbananda Sonowal-led government’s recent endorsement of the Citizenship Bill which seeks to grant citizenship to the non-Muslim "persecuted migrants" of Bangladesh, besides Pakistan and Afghanistan.
