Man in Assam trampled to death by jumbos

Guwahati, December 16, 2018:

A man in Assam was trampled to death by the wild elephants.

The incident occurred at Jyotigaon-Dumapara in Dhupdhara area of Goalpara district. The victim was identified as one Biraj Kachari, who was a father of two children.

The locals said the elephants trampled Kachari when he had gone to see a house that was damaged by a herd of elephants.

“On being suddenly confronted with two wild elephants, he tried to flee but fell down. Two elephants chased him down and trampled him. He was rushed to a hospital by the villagers but the doctors there declared him dead on arrival,” sources said.

Meanwhile, the locals slammed the forest department for allegedly doing nothing to protect their lives from the jumbos which have unleashed a reign of terror in the area.
