MARIANI: A massive fire broke out at a cotton warehouse in Mariani town of Jorhat district today.
The incident took place on the premises of Jamme mosque in the heart of the town. Property worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes.
The owner of the warehouse has been identified as Mohammad Alam.

The fire was brought under control by the locals. Although locals and police immediately informed the fire brigade, fire tenders could not reach the spot on time because of traffic congestion.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
