Moran Community raises battle cry in Tinsukia against BJP, RSS

Guwahati, January 30, 2019:

The Moran community organized a ‘Ran Hunkar’ (battle cry) at Tinsukia’s ‘Boding Field’ protest to bring the Government’s attention to four demands.

Firstly, the Moran have demanded Scheduled Tribe status grant to the community and self-governance; secondly, they have demanded the scrapping of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, thirdly, they have demanded the stopping of oil field privatization in the state and lastly, they have demanded the grant of PRC status to Moran people residing in Arunachal Pradesh.

A huge procession was taken out in Tinsukia to oppose the Government. Slogans such as “RSS go back”, “BJP Murdabad” and “Sarbananda Sonowal Murdabad” were raised during the rally. The spirit of rebellion was felt throughout the town of Tinsukia.

It is to be mentioned that the Moran community, who are among the communities of Assam agitating for Scheduled Tribe status, had earlier also called an economic blockade in Tinsukia.
