The Charaideo District Police arrested five individuals including Surrendered United Liberation Front of Axom (SULFA) member on Wednesday in relation to the firing case in Hajua Tea Estate.

Superintendent of Police of Charaideu District, Anand Mishra informed that the search operations are on to nab the other miscreants. Mishra further added that the people in the estate need not worry. He mentioned that the police are trying their best to nab all the people involved in the case.

It is to be mentioned that Paresh Baruah-led faction of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) allegedly created a reign of terror by firing bullets in the Hajuwa tea estate at Moran in Charaideo district of Assam.

The wheels of this incident were set in motion when ULFA (I) cadres had demanded a sum of Rupees ten lakh from Assistant Director Shahbaz Anwar. On Sunday, two suspected ULFA cadres went to the tea estate and asked the security guard about the whereabouts of Anwar. The guard, showing presence of mind, told them that the Director had left for Bangaluru, and which point the militants fired into the air and left in the direction of Moran town.

Later, the authorities, after conducting a search operation, recovered three empty cartridges of .22 pistol. The two cadres are nowhere to be found, though. It may be mentioned that Shahbaz Anwar had lodged an FIR after ULFA (I) had tried to extort money from him, but the authorities were seemingly not alert enough to prevent it.
