Protesters clash with Police in Numaligarh tea estate

Guwahati, January 3, 2019:

In yet another protest staged by the tea workers of Bogidheela Tea estate of Numaligarh where activists blocked roads, chaotic environment followed when the police started firing at the protestors.

According to reports, few police officers and activists was injured during the firing. It may also be noted that the activists acted in an unruly manner after three tea workers Jagdish Tati, Jamun Tali and Roni Kumar were arrested. The police even had to resort to lathi charge upon the activists to control the situation.

Meanwhile, the situation of Bogidheela tea estate is at its worst as it has been closed down for a year due to allegations of shooting the tea workers of the estate by the accused owners Sudhir Roy and Sameer Roy. The arrest of the workers have created a chaos in the premises of Bogidheela Tea Estate.
