Republic Day celebration is an event which is awaited by each and every citizen in the country. Tableaus from different states are prepared to be displayed in the streets of New Delhi.
But this year the scenario is totally different from what is expected. There has been a rift among the North Eastern states over the celebration of the R-Day. As of now people of Mizoram, Nagaland, and Manipur have announced to boycott the very event.
Following the recent resentments of the people of North East over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 have force not to celebrate this day. This is something that has never been witnessed in any of the states of the country.
The intolerant BJP government has been forcibly pushing its decision over the people of North East. The most controversial Citizenship Bill that has been passed from the lower house of the Parliament has outraged the people. Despite thousands of people protesting against the Bill, the government in both Centre and State has been acting stubborn over its decision.
It not only forced the people to boycott the R-Day but has also forced them to demand sovereignty. In the recent move of the people of Mizoram, thirty thousand people from the civil society have moved into the streets with banners “Hello China, Bye Bye India”, demanding to scrap the Bill and if not they are ready to move with China. Not only Mizoram but Arunachal is also in a position of merging with China.
