Seven-year-old girl pledges to donate eyes

Guwahati (Assam), September 1, 2018:

A Class III girl of Assam has pledged to donate her eyes. She is the youngest to do so.

The seven-year-old, Debolakshi Sarma, has pledged that she will donate her cornea for therapeutic use at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Earlier, a 13-year-old boy was the youngest to have pledged to donate an eye.

Since Debolakshi is a minor, her father Dhurvajyoti Sarma had to give his consent before she pledged.
