Shutdown call on August 14-15 by Koch-Rajbongshi group

The Akhil Koch-Rajbongshi Sanmelani (AKRS) has announced “total shutdown” in Assam on August 14 and 15 in protest against the August 6 alleged assault on Koch-Rajbongshi protestors by the police. The All Koch Rajbongshi Students’ Union has backed the shutdown call.

AKRS state general secretary, Ranjit Kumar Rai, demanded that 18 AKRS members, who were arrested by the police during the protest on that day, be released immediately. He also demanded the suspension of police officer Kamal Kumar Gupta.
