An emergency cabinet meeting has been called by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at his official residence in Guwahati on Tuesday.
The cabinet meeting has been attended by the all the leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party. BJP president Ranjit Dass, Cabinet minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Naba Doley, Bhabesh Kalita and several others were among them.
The situation of the state is currently in havoc where activists are leaving no ways to protest against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. Frustrated Axomiya youths have taken to the streets, blocked roads and railway tracks, burnt BJP offices in many districts, urinated on the “Jatiya Nayak’s” photo, cut on their chest with blades and written slogans against the Bill and government with that blood.
What is this government up to? Has the Jatiya Nayaka lost all his Jatiyatabad that he claimed during the past election campaigns? Is power above regionalism and patriotism?
The ball is in the Sonowal government's court to make a move now in regards to the Bill once the meeting is over.
