Suspect with Gold worth Rs 16 lakh apprehended at Guwahati Railway Station

Guwahati, March 3, 2019:

Guwahati Railway Police on Saturday retrieved six bars of gold which are suspected to be smuggled at Platform no. 2 of Guwahati Railway station from the person of one Amzad Ali (35). The gold that was found on him weighs 499 gms and costs Rs. 16,50,000, as per current market value.

Ali, who was headed to Guwahati city, is a resident of Bhattapur in Hugli district of West Bengal. The Customs Department has been informed of the matter and they will receive the person as per legal procedures.
