UPPL demands full proof security to be deployed in BTR before, during and after council election

The United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) has put a demand to the government and the election commission for deployment of full-proof security before, during and after the council elections to the Bodoland Territorial Region( BTR.

The party held its urgent cabinet meeting on Friday in the run up to the BTR council elections which was deferred for indefinite period due to the COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdown in India.

The party cabinet meeting was chaired by party president Pramod Boro and attended by all the central portfolio holders from president to the organizing secretary numbering more than 300 leaders held at Hotel Himalaya, Chapaguri in Chirang district.

The meeting discussed deeply on several important issues ranging from social, political, economic and other issues faced by the society at large during the global pandemic of Coronavirus besides preparation for the run up BTR elections.

The party leaders were seen excited while attending the central cabinet meeting and exuded confidence of winning the ensuing BTR election by garnering majority of the seats and forming the next BTR.

In the cabinet meeting, the UPPL resolved three resolutions which were  urged the Government of Assam and state election commission to hold the BTR election at the earliest by following all the COVID-19 protocols.

The UPPL decided to urge upon the government and the election commission to provide full-proof security before, during and after BTR election to maintain healthy successful of BTR election.The party has eyed smooth successful of the BTR election in a tight security deployments during the elections.The party has urged state and election for ensuring strict security arrangements in the region.

The UPPL also appeal the central and state government to check the rapid rise in the price of the essential commodities especially food items so that interest of the poor people are protected.

Former Rajya Sabha MP and founding president of UPPL,Urkhao Gwra Brahma while attending the meeting said, "the meeting discussed at length about the recent three farm bills brought in by the Government of India and passed by the parliament. After a detail discussion, the meeting decided to urge upon the Government of India to ensure interest of the farmer and bring in relevant amendment in the act, so that farmers are not pushed to the penury”. 

Mursida Begam, who participated central cabinet meeting for the first time said, “It was really motivating for me to participate in this kind of high level meeting for the first time and hear discussing about various relevant socio-economic issues including the skyrocketing prices rice of essential commodities such as vegetables, millets, edible oil, rice etc”.

Party spokesperson, Wilson Hasda said the meeting discussed various issues and adopted several resolutions regarding the welfare and development aspects being carried out by UPPL party among the society.He said that UPPL party was working for all round development of all sections and the society since it's inception.
