115 sacks of suspected smuggled areca nuts seized from Vivek Express in Assam

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Assam Railway Police seized 115 sacks of suspected smuggled Burmese areca nuts from the Kanyakumari–Tinsukia Vivek Express at New Bongaigaon Railway Junction, officials said.

The seizure was made during a joint operation at the railway junction. The train was travelling towards Tinsukia when the railway personnel conducted the operation.

A total of 115 sacks of areca nuts were recovered from the train, the police said.

The operation was continuing and further details were awaited.

No one had been arrested in connection with the seizure so far, the railway police said.
